Dr. Sharon Decker is a Professor Emeritus in the School of Nursing and a TTUHSC Grover E. Murray Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC).
Dr. Decker has been the recipient of the Texas Tech’s Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching Award and several TTUHSC President’s awards for Academic Achievement. She is a fellow in the Academy of Nursing Education, American Academy of Nursing, and an inaugural member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Academy. Dr. Decker is currently a member of the Board of Board of Reviews and a reviewer for SSH's Accreditation Council and a member of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Core Four Standards Committee. As a member of the Core Four Standards Committee, she is leading a subcommittee in conducting an umbrella review related to the debriefing process.
Dr. Decker's scholarship is related to using the pedagogy of simulation to promote clinical reasoning and reflective thinking andintegrating electronic health records into simution-based experiences. She has presented at conferences and provided consultations nationally and internationally, and has been the recipient of numerous grants to support her research. Dr. Decker received her bachelor’s degree (BSN) from Baylor University, her master’s (MSN) from the University of Texas at Arlington, and her doctorate (PhD) from Texas Woman’s University.
