Lori Persico, Ph.D., RN CHSE, is an assistant professor and the director of simulation education at the Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing and Health Sciences of Molloy University. For more than ten years, she has been involved in simulation-based education for nursing fellowships, hospital-based systems, interprofessional teams, and graduate and undergraduate nursing programs. Recently, she has obtained an endorsement from INACSL for the best practices for the simulation program at the university.
Dr. Persico is the chair of the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice Committee™ and leads the HSSOBP™ Sub-committee for Prebriefing: Preparation and Briefing. Her scholarship includes The Impact of Prebriefing on Simulation Learning Outcomes: A Systematic Review Protocol in the Clinical Simulation Journal Clinical Simulation in Nursing and a Comparison of Two Debriefing Methods with Nurse Orientees in Teaching and Learning in Nursing and the HSSOBP TM: Facilitation.
Dr. Persico has mentored countless educators on the best practices for simulation-based education and collaborates with colleagues to develop simulation programs that enhance critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and sound clinical judgment.
