Dr Davies has been employed as Lecturer at the School of Nursing & Midwifery, Edith Cowan University, Western Australia since 2016. A focus of his teaching has been on educating final semester undergraduate students to develop technical and non-technical skills required to meet industry expectations as a Registered Nurse. Using his clinical knowledge and experience as an intensive care nurse of over 25 years, Dr Davies uses a program of extended immersive ward-based simulation to contextualise what students have learned in theory and how this translates into the realities of clinical practice. His use of simulation as a teaching pedagogy has practical applications for students transitioning to professional practice and have published several peer-reviewed papers on the topic. In 2023 he was appointed Director of Simulation. Dr Davies has a graduate certificate in clinical simulation and his research interests include interprofessional simulation-based learning.
