Identified Gap(s): Writing for publication can be a daunting experience, with many budding authors unable to navigate the world of academic publishing. This session aims to provide a summary of the academic writing experience, from when it is first submitted until the first, second, and ultimately final decision.

Description of current state: As the science of simulation continues to expand and evolve, so does the need for knowledge translation of simulation studies and papers. Many potential authors state the process of writing and publishing can be time consuming and may not result in acceptance of this work. Understanding the inner workings of publishing can assist new and established authors with their manuscript submission.

Description of desired/achievable state: Learners will have knowledge of what editors and reviewers are looking for in manuscripts. The presenters will highlight the do’s and don’ts of manuscript submissions.
