Identified Gap(s): The current gap between AI and nursing education primarily lies in the lack of knowledge in integrating AI technologies into nursing curricula. Although AI has made significant advancements in healthcare in most recent years, its incorporation into nursing education remains relatively limited. Many educators have limited knowledge on the use of AI and are unsure of the many ways AI can be used to enhance nursing education. Some of the challenges include a lack of AI resources, insufficient faculty training, and ethical concerns surrounding AI integration. Additionally, there is a need for research on the effectiveness of AI in nursing education and its impact on student learning outcomes. Description of current state: Since AI is a relatively recent technology, many nurse educators are unfamiliar with its use, how to integrate AI into the nursing curriculum, and the implications of using AI. There is a lack of resources for faculty to become familiarized with the technology and best practices on the effective use of AI in nursing education. Although AI offers a great opportunity to enhance nursing education, many nurse educators are unaware of its limitations and challenges. Description of desired/achievable state: The intended outcomes for participants attending this session are to deepen their comprehension of integrating AI into the nursing curriculum, ultimately aimed at enhancing the delivery of nursing education. By participating in this session, faculty members will gain insights into leveraging AI for various purposes, including the development of simulation activities, facilitation of learner assessment, creation of tailored lesson plans, and identification of additional AI applications. This comprehensive understanding will not only streamline faculty efforts but also enhance efficiency, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of nursing education delivery.
