Laurie Neely PT, DPT, is an Associate Professor and the Associate Program Director and Director of Clinical Education in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Central Florida. She received a BBA from the University of Mississippi in 2002 and her DPT from Old Dominion University in 2007. Dr. Neely is board certified in Neurologic Physical Therapy and has over 10 years of clinical experience working with medically complex patients in the acute care setting. She is involved locally and nationally with interprofessional education and clinical education directives, as well as advocacy initiatives. Dr. Neely has served on the Examination Development Committee for the National Physical Therapy Examination at the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy and was recently inducted into their Academy of Advanced Item Writers. Dr. Neely was previously the Director of Government Affair for APTA Maryland and now represents the southeast region on ACAPT’s Advocacy Committee. She is also an active member of ACAPT’s Education Research Committee. She received the APTA Acute Care Katherine Harris Educator Award in 2022 and was inducted as a Distinguished Fellow into the National Academies of Practice in 2024.
