Raymond began his career in simulation as the staff assistant for Center for Nursing Discovery (CND) at the Duke School of Nursing in 2013. Within the first year of employment through onsite training Raymond became the primary simulation operations specialist. In his current role, Raymond is responsible for handling the department budget, purchasing capital equipment, reviewing maintenance contracts, and scheduling courses and activities in the lab. His duties also include completing routine maintenance and updates on the high-fidelity manikins, multiple computers, telepresence robots and video recording equipment. He’s the primary administrator for the CND’s video capture software CAE Learningspace. Additionally, he builds patient scenarios in the Epic Training Environment having become certified in EpicCare Inpatient Procedure Orders/Curriculum in 2018. Raymond works closely with faculty and CND staff to determine the best use of technology in all of the simulation activities either with distance based students or traditional on campus activities. In 2020, Raymond became Duke’s first Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist.
