Dr Suzan Griffis Knowles is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Seattle University College of nursing, Seattle, WA< with over 45 years of experience in maternal child nursing care and nursing leadership. She is passionate about the care of children and families, with a clinical focus on neonatal intensive care. She is a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN), the National Association of Neonatal Nurses NANN), and the Puget Sound Association of Neonatal Nurses (PNANN) and serves on the board of the Seattle Nursing Research Consortium. She recently participated in the revision of the AWHONN Late Preterm Infant Evidence-based Guideline (3rd edition). She is core faculty and content lead in the prelicensure obstetric and senior practicum curriculums at Seattle University and has served as interim Director of the Clinical Performance Lab with a focus on simulation-based learning experience (SBL) for the past two years. She has developed multiple maternal child SBL’s that are used for clinical experience and clinical hours replacement. She is a member of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL)and Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). She is faculty advisor for the student led “Stop the Bleed” Emergency Community Training Program in the College of Nursing at Seattle University. She is also faculty advisor for the Seattle University chapter of Camp Kesem.
