Dr. Shani Marks Donkor is a distinguished, Board Certified, Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) and an esteemed Assistant Professor at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida International University. She has an extensive background in nursing education and clinical practice. In her role as Assistant Professor, she has been a key faculty member in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, delivering comprehensive didactic, clinical and simulation instruction to nursing students. Dr. Marks Donkor has previously served in a directorship role at a simulation center and has been a certified simulation healthcare educator since 2016, further solidifying her commitment to innovative and effective teaching methodologies. Her research has focused on simulation in advanced practice programs and most recently she has contributed to a collaborative project which aims to develop competency assessment tools for nurse practitioner students that align with the 2021 American Association of the Colleges of Nursing (AACN) essentials. She is an active member of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) and former chair of the organization's inaugural Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Special Interest Group (APRN SIG). Dr. Shani Marks Donkor is a dedicated professional, blending her expertise in nursing education, clinical practice, and simulation pedagogy to positively impact patient outcomes.
