Margaret Calacci is an Associate Clinical Professor at the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University with an academic appointment as Coordinator of Emerging Technologies and teaching responsibilities to develop nurse educators. Previously, as the Sr. Director of the Grace Center for Simulation and Innovation in Nursing Education at Edson, where she led a team that delivered over 150,000 student hours of simulation and deliberate practice learning strategies across two sites of undergraduate and graduate programs. Margaret graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Saint Mary's College Notre Dame, IN, and a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Arizona State University Phoenix, AZ., and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Global Leadership and Change at Pepperdine University Malibu, CA. She began her nursing career serving as an officer in the Army Nurse Corps stationed in Germany. Following her service, she returned to civilian life and thrived as a Resource Coordinator and Education Coordinator at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.
Ms. Calacci expanded her simulation knowledge as a 2016 NLN Sim Lead Cohort member and has been a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and Certified Nurse Educator since 2015. Margaret provides faculty coaching in her specialty of simulation, mentoring, and development of nurse educators and learners. Additionally, she is a leader in interprofessional education—emerging technologies such as virtual reality simulation and artificial intelligence teaching and learning strategies.
